this is a new plant this year, with the flower MAYBE reaching a whole inch in length. So this was sizable crop. In adjusting I darkened the neutrals a bit, very little saturation, and typical sharpening. There was a lot of bluish cast to the leaves which I tried to reduce it in color balance. Was that due to this being in the shade or improper camera settings?
I like the selected crop and framing a lot !!! If anything might take some from the left?
The cast was probably due to reflections Downloaded the image and it is fine now, didn't see anything in the whites How was the histogram for this one? Did you have to lighten in PS? Strong image I like it a lot !!!1
Julie, I was using AWB. Do you set the WB to shady then?
On another WB question, when shooting indoors with ISO of 640 to 800, the white/extremely pale green walls turned pink. Is that due to WB or something else?
Hi Cheryl,
I like your composition, But I feel that you need to trim the leaves out so you can give the full attention to the flower. There was a lot of noise in the background. I made a few modifications. see if you agree...
FWIW, I don't like Gus's repost at all. It looks like a poor flower floating in a sea of green. It really needs the connection to the leaf in the original post.
I think Gus's repost makes the blossom pop more, but I like some of the habitat/reality in images. I would like it a bit in-between. Perhaps using some blur on the background would be enough.
