Baby Loggerhead sea turtle heads to open water.
Only about 1 in 1000 make it to maturity. Sea turtle nests are subject to attack from Crabs, Raccoons etc. The babies must make it past birds of prey and various gulls.
They then must fight the waves. Once in the ocean they have to swim 20 to 25 miles to the weedline at the edge of the gulfstream . Here they hide from large fish and birds and try to grow up.

Like this a lot. The crossing diagonals do a great deal. Of what one might ask. Add space I reply. Makes one feel what baby Loggerheads must face to try and succeed.

    Layton,

I like the opposing diagonals and the fact you can see the tracks and - since living here - I know what we are looking at but I feel a closer view of the turtle was needed to make him recognizable.

The strong light works well to define the details on the sand and surf.

Great foam, I too wish the turtle was larger, can't really see it. Love the story, nature is heartbreakingly harsh on newborn and young wildlife, isn't it?
