    Hi Paul,

This is a very interesting composition. I find the shadows too powerful and too larger in the frame, taking away from your main focus which is the eye in this case. IF this is a crop, I would crop it from the bottom.

    Thanks!

Maxis-thanks for the critique. The original was the full frame image. I may consider cropping away some of the body and making the eye high right. I keep hoping shadow will become as acceptable in bird images as it is in people photography... :)

Some may find this crop more palatable...

    HI Paul,

Re-post works better. After looking even closer, I just noticed the eye is not in focus..... :( only the feathers but I hope you agree about the crop. Works much better!

    Thank you for sharing!

I think the crop works. I tend to like more eclectic stuff so I don't always go for the standard crops...but it does work nicely. The eye is past the focal plane in this one...I've done some work to make the eye more prominent and look less o/o/f.

This last repost works the best. The biggest drawback that I find is that the eye is not sharp.....in that the focus was on the feathers nearest the camera. Perhaps some creative work with some of the filters might turn this into something quite interesting.
