went through some old files last night and found this one. it was a really nice find since i think my processing has gotten better and i do not remember ever seeing this image. one of about 5000 of this bird.

i spent just about seven days a week for four months with this guy. watched him grow up and fledge. he was a lot of fun. unfortunately, we lost him to a powerline that he flew in to. last years great horned owlet from loxahatchee NWR. i think he was affectionately named owen by fabs.

    D50, bigma at 500mm, f/8, 1/250s, 0EV, ISO 400, flash fill with better beamer, flash set at TTL-BL -1.3EV.

thanks for looking and comments and critiques are appreciated.

I like your image. I would like to see the owl larger in the frame though, prob cropping the right side especially. I like seeing the habitat around him, except for the oof green. would like to see more.

wow, uncle gus!! great memory!! that link is to one of my all time favorites! thanks for that!!!

mr cobos, i do remember!!! this one was not one of them in the book. i just found this one last nite going through some of the old files. i have a lot more that i need to look at. might have a diamond in the rough in there!!

cheryl, thanks for your comments!! if you knew the situation of all the environment this bird was in, you'd know that i was lucky just to get a semi-clean image of this guy, much less one with a good head angle. it was challenging!!

Alfredo, thank you!!! i am pretty proud and owe a lot to you and the family here!!;)

nicki, thank you too!!! i really appreciate your comments and your unique view of our world!! keep thinking outside the box, cause you make me THINK!!! and that's a good thing!!:D

Excellent H. I like it as you presented it, showing the habitat. Very sharp and well exposed.
Will try to go by tomorrow night by Fabs class to say hello.
