    Fabs, great capture here. The light is stunning and the bird stands out effectively from the darker background. Good detail on the eye. And is it just me or does the edge of the pond in the background look a bit lopsided? I think the structure on which the heron is standing is at a nice angle, but then again the bird itself appears to be standing rather straight. You have such a large diversity of herons over there. Down here we only have a few resident species, and the rest are rare vagrants! Lovely birds to photograph.

    Glad to see that you got out to do some photography. The exposure and use of flash is perfect to show the colors and details of this guy. The light colored line at the bottom is somewhat of a distraction. I think if it were smooth lines it might not be as distracting. That D3 certainly produces some wonderful images.

    Hi Fabs,

    Nice image of this Green Heron. The fill flash really brought out it's color nicely. The head angle is just right. The dark bg sets it off nicely, but I find the stripe areas in the bg a little distracting.
