During my holiday in the south of Africa I had a close encounter with this bird.

Nice sharp image, composition and great BG. I wish the N. American vultures looks so good!

Great shot, Alexander - love how the BG colours echo the colours on the beak and skin on the face and around the eye. Where did you find one to get this close?

At the Drakesgebergte near Lesoto there is a "vulture restaurant". Here, nearby farmers dump there dead livestock and the vultures of the area come here every day to feed. Form a little self made hide out i was able to get close onoff.

Maybe the shadow around the eye is a little too deep, but otherwise very cool! I like the textures you captured on the face, and the bill looks quite smooth. Excellent composition.

Wonderful portrait and sharp detail. The bg is complimentary and the composition is very good. I agree with Daniel that the shadow around the eye is a bit dark. Easy to improve in PS,. I have really enjoyed your images from your South Africa trip,
