(my first post) I've just got my new D300 and have a Sigma 70-200mm on backorder (already have the 1.4 teleconverter), so I will hopefully be making some better shots soon..

This is a shot taken with my D50 not long ago. This little sucker was hiding inside a holly bush and it was very hard to get a good shot.. this was my first attempt at "birding".

    Nikon D50, Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Di LD Macro @ 300mm, F8, 1/25s, ISO200, Handheld.

Welcome to BPN. Nice sharp image. The distractions for me are the OOF BG branch touching the head and the OOF leaf in front of the breast. Look forward to more shots with your new gear.

Welcome to BPN! You have great sharpness in this image. As Tony mentions, the BG sort of overwhelms the image though. Try to squeeze the trigger when you've got a better line of sight on the bird. Look forward to seeing some photos with your new lens!

Welcome to BPN aerogurl (you can PM Alfred Forns with your real name so he can help you switch it). The guys above have covered the critiquing well. Can't wait to see more from you :-)

Welcome to BPN! The critiques above covered the main points on your image. I should warn you that photographing birds easily becomes an overwhelming passion, and you are now on your way to a full-scale obsession. But, it is truly a wonderful obsession you will share with all of us here in the Avian forum! Looking forward to seeing more bird images from you with your new equipment.
