Took this pic last Thursday, 45 minutes before sunset in a near by swamp.

i love the reflection and the bird is tack sharp. I would suggest cloning out that bit of whatever center left side.

Rick: Great shot--the lighting is beautiful. Good head turn and catch light in its' eye. The black vertical object draws my eye to the right. IMHO I think it would be a stronger image without that disstraction.

Lovely shot, Rick - great first post and welcome. I like the light, the eye and pose with the leg forward. I agree with Joanna re the black object - have done a quick and not very good patching job and slightly lightened the image by lifting the curve - there is some noise in the image which may have been accentuated by sharpening - selective sharpening with a layer mask would minimise this if it is the case.

Repost is just great, it does make a big difference, I only think the light is coming a bit from behind the bird, but it still looks great! Congratulations!

Hi Rick, a big welcome to BPN!! It was nice bumping into you yesterday morning. Tony's repost is what I had in mind when I first viewed you image. Maybe I'd also add a touch more room below, but very minor. Ramone, to me it looks like the light was behind and to the right of the photographer (at about the 4 o'clock position). Nice reflection and colours in the water.

Lovely image and composition, and the rework enhances the overal appeal of it.

Glad to have you posting here on BPN! I like the pose and the reflection and the repost improved the image. The light angle is the main drawback to the image. Pointing your shadow at the bird will give you even frontal lighting and will prevent detail obscuring shadows such as on your kildeer's crown and shoulders. Still, a nice image, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your images.
