I was trying to get a close up of these storks. It was walking in a water hole. These birds often push away the eagles and vultures to grab that bone.

Canon EOS 40D, Canon EF 400m F2.8 L IS USM + Canon EF 2xII, ISO 500, f8, 1/500, full frame. Look forward to your comments.

This is a bird I am unfamiliar with. It reminds me of the Maribou stork of Africa. The size of the bird in the frame is ploblematic. I would prefer either a tighter crop, or a having the entire bird in the frame. In this image, the bird seems tight in the trame and the tail is cut off. The sidelighting also was not ideal causing the shoulder to be too light and shadows on the bird's body although the face is well lit.

Love the light and texture on the head and beak and the eye contact. I agree with Linda and would prefer a tighter crop focussing on the eye and beak. There also seems to be quite a lean to the image and I think some CW rotation would remove that feeling

Another vote for a tighter crop !! Would also be ok with more space showing the entire bird but with that compelling faced would go tight !!!

I agree aboyt going tighter with the crop, also, that hot white should be "recoverable" if you shot in RAW, I like the bird a lot and details look good, light is not ideal, but the head is perfectly iluminated so it doeasn't really bother me that much, I would aslo try to work on the color as it feels almost as a monocrome :) Still, congratulaitons!
