The female Superb Fairy-wren is quite drab compared to the bright blue male.

    Canon 40D, EF500 f/4 + 1.4tc, beanbag from car window, ISO400, 1/640, f/9, evaluative, a slight crop from right and a twig removed

This is beautifully sharp Simon, and a fabulous subject. The BG is very sympathetic to the subject. I can certainly live with the perch but it is a bit awkward with the lower twig originating at the lower edge of the image and the upper V branching just above the bird. These could easily be edited but not sure it is necessary.

Seems it has coarse feathers. Would love to see a male specimen. As a rule, males are more attractive than females in all the species except humans. About humans, I can't comment as I don't want to be be flamed. :-)

Fantastic pose! The BG is very complimentary, and the image is razor sharp. I don't mind the perch at all. This is just a wonderful image!

Lovely shot Simon. The colours, although drab, are lovely and the BG complements "superbly":D

Hi and thank you so much for sharing this beauty with us!
I hope you don't mind what I did to your image, I just wanted to see how it looks without the little branch.
Sharpness, compo and pose are wonderful.:):D

Really sweet image Simon, with great sharpness, light and BG. I think I like the repost with lower twig removed a bit better...but only just! Great work.
