This second-year coastal brown-bear cub was digging for clams with his mother: Katmai Coast, June 2008.
He kept coming closer out of curiousity. Eventually he came too close for my lens. There was no backing off because I was on my belly. I'm glad he wasn't too curious with his fearsome claws.
Canon Mark III, 500mm lens, f7.1 1/500.
Hi Susan,
Nice pose/angle that works well with this tight comp. He looks just like the stuff bear I was practicing my 2xTC technique on the other day :)

Good thing momma was not too aggressive either Susan. Bears rock! Nice fur details and the color is splendid. I love the eyes and the look of "who are you"!
Love the look and the raised paw and yes to the CW rotation. You may have been on your belly but either you were on hill (not likely) or your lens was not at ground level as this is not an on-your-belly perspective. Perhaps you were sitting behind your tripod.

Nice look on his face Susan. I like the brightness of the fur. I would try a selection on the BG and ground FG and lower the contrast and brightness of that area.
At one point, this cuddly little devil seemed intent on joining us in the skiff - sending Robert's pace racing! Happily, our guide, Chuck, was keeping an eye on him and 'momma bear' was very laid back - more interested in clamming.
