    I like the wing position and underwing details and only wish for a bit more eye contact.

    And that's that what Europeans call 'buzzards', we Americans call 'hawks.'

    the "Hawks" of North America are often called Buzzards in Europe. Not all but definitely those of the Buteo group. For example the Rough-legged Hawk is called Rough-legged Buzzard in Europa.

    The bird on the photo is definitely a Common Buzzard (Buteo buteo).

    About the shot: I really like it. Great composition and light. I like the blue sky and the detail in the feathers.
