This is a great composition. However, the background is to dark for my tastes and the whites look rather hot. Was this image made in the evening? Did you use flash as mainlight?

Excellent moment captured, John. Great poses and interaction. I find the dark spots in the BG a bit distracting but not a big problem.

Excellent composition, John. Everything is where it should be :)

Contrast and saturation could go back a tiny bit, in my opinion.

I am a sucker for GBH im ages and this is wonderful with great interaction and I like it that you were able to capture the eye on both herons. I do agree about toning down the saturation a little.

Great interaction, sharpness and postures. Find the colours a bit contrasting, possibly because the light was already a bit harsh (?) I would suggest lighten the background a bit and tone down the whites.

Great work John - you have capture the moment beautifully, a real story telling image with impact.
Agree that the saturation could be toned down a bit but the BG doesn't concern me - it tends to emphasize the 2 subjects very nicely. Well done!!
