Not perfect as I would have preferred not to have the sand, but this bird was creating some rather nice feeding rings in the calm water depressions on the lower flats as the tide receeded.

Great light, angle and calm water. I agree without the sand it would be even stronger.

Lovely. Certainly the rings in the water and reflections give it a nice feel.

You already said it about the sand but other than that I think is a great shot with a great pose, and light! Congratulations!

not much you could do at that point and time Jim, in regards to the sand. I like the light in this photo.

Lovely light, feather textures and reflection, Jim. Agree re sand - only suggestion would be a touch of anticlock rotation

Very beautiful, Jim. Would you consider cropping the foreground?

Good Point Fabs....I'll give it a try.

Don't know why I didn't think of that?

Beautiful capture, and I think Fabs' idea to crop the foreground will vastly improve the image.

your images with the 500mm VR almost make me want to drain my savings account and buy one... almost. Maybe one day when I have learned enough to do justice with such a lens. Anyway the detail is amazing, I love the glassy look of the water, i don't know what that is in the brc but its distracting and i wish i could see the whole reflection. a beautiful image with a crazy wonderful lens!
