    Chas,

Good looking buck and nice catchlight in the eye along with some attractive golden light. Two things I suggest to strengthen the image, a crop to move him right in the frame and some additional sharpening. I reposted my suggested crop along with two rounds of USM sharpening on a background copy. The first at 175/0.3/0 and the second at 125/0.2/0.

I like the repost better. Shifting the buck from the centre and the sharpneing really improved the picture.

Thanks for the repost-I guess I got carried away trying to straighten the image ,I completely didnt notice how centered it was. Shooting vertical from a throw blind was more difficult than I thought since no images were close to level. Digital has helped sort of do something to them.

    Hi Chas,
Robert's repost looks good. I like the light and reflection. One thing that bugs me though is the size of the dark part of the bank. It provides too much seperation between the deer and the nice reflection in the water. How did you shoot from inside the throw blind? (deer stand, sit on the ground, stool?)

I was sitting on a stool in the mud, actually waiting for the wild hogs of Aransas NWR (mixture of regular hog and Russian Boar as I understand it). Some success with hogs and deer . The separation from the water was a downer and have some closer to water but with the size of lens I was using got no reflections. Whooping Cranes landed farther up in mud ,but no luck with them on this day.
At that time Aransas had rather loose restrictions--walk anywhere ,use any temporary blinds at any time. Some NWRefuges have gotten "squirrely" about restrictions ,but still love the NWRefuges.

    Chas.
