    Sanderling on Plum Island, Sandy Hook, NJ. Last one from Sandy Hook, I promise. Your thoughts? I think I should have stopped down a bit to f/7.1 or 8 for a bit more dof.

    Canon 30D; Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS with 2x TC; handheld

    1/4000 sec @ f/5.6; ISO 800; 0 EV; Focal length 600mm

    Good composition and head turn ED but the lighting looks a little harsh . The whites around the head area and tail look to be blown out on my monitor, Were you shooting in raw? If so you may be able to recover some of the detail. I would be tempted to crop a little from the top to remove some of the white blotches and also from the bottom to remove the green. I like that we are able to see the shoreline in this capture. Many thanks for sharing.

    Nice over the shoulder pose, Ed. Agree on some blown highlights and the crop. I also think its a bit over-sharpened.

    Agree with above comments Ed. The whites look cooked, and there's not a lot of feather detail here. Thanks for posting!
