    Default Black Turnstone

Wow--it has been a long dry spell for me this past summer. The birds are finally starting to return to our area here in the Pacific Northwest.
I managed to find a few black turnstones among some sanderlings and sandpipers today. Not crazy about the angle, but the beach was very steep and rocky. Just happy to be getting something! :D Hopefully--better tomorrow!

Looks like pretty harsh light you were having to deal with here, Bonnie. You have managed the exposure well with nice detail in the feathers. Good head angle with beak detail and catchlight. I would be inclined to burn in the corners (especially lower right ) to focus in on the bird

A lower angle would be nice, but it's still a good photo. Like the sharpness and the head angle. I'm sure as more birds return to your area we're going to be treated to some really good stuff on Wild and Free! Thanks for posting!
