Taken on a wilderness canoe trip in La Verendrye, Quebec, August 5, 2008. There was a mother and two chicks. The mother disappeared but one chick stood still. I did a quick mask to removed a twig in front of the chick that was across the belly and to the left.

Very difficult conditions here, Robert. The dappled light and twiggy surrounds make it hard to get a clean image. Fill flash would have helped reduce the contrast ratio to a level more easily recorded and a wider aperture may have helped blur out the BG more. A vertical (portrait) framing may have given a bit more room above the bird and room for the rest of it's body. The head angle is good. Look forward to more of your pictures.

Great find and angle. The bird is a bit tight in the frame for my taste and the BG is distracting. Keep them coming!
