    Default Gull in flight

I thought I was hot till I met 'birds in flight' :) Now I'm struggling with a new camera body, and the birds. I have a bum left shoulder so all my bird shots are done using a tripod. Makes for interesting outings, and computer sessions.

Let's see, I moved this gull to a different position on it's background, performed lightening surgery on the eye which was not visible, increased saturation a bit and sharpened slightly. I would have liked the image better if the feet were more visible and had retained their color.

Comments will be much appreciated - Thanks, Bob

The pose and exposure control is good and for BIF practice is all it takes, especially if you have to use a tripod. The position in the frame is not ideal. I would crop quite a bit off the top and a bit off the right. There is a slight S/H halo around the bird and it appears a bit soft. Keep them coming.

    Hi Bob,

I think you did a fantastic in photoshop. I was once told that photographers are not editors and that's another reason why I think we should do everything we can to capture a good image right from the camera and forget about " Oh, I'll fix that in photoshop" type of mentality. With that said, your subject is rather small in the frame, the composition is not ideal and the bird looks a little soft. Keep posting I want to see more of your work!
