Camera canon XT with Canon 70-300mm F4-5.6 IS lens at 300mm,1/100 sec,f7.1 & ISO200. I set up a twig at a feeder at back door & during winter months the birds come to grab a bite. It sets up a very natural looking environment.
Perhaps a bit tight in the frame, and the fine detail seems lacking somewhat (big crop?) The side lighting is OK, did you have to open the shadows on the bird during post processing? Nice colours in the BG :-)
It's about a 50% crop but also shows that this lens at 300mm is a bit soft hence the lack of crisp detail. This winter I will try for a similar shot with the 70-200 f4 IS L lens & 1.4X TC. Thnaks for the comments, well taken at this end.
I have a 70-300mm F4-5.6 IS lens which I no longer use, it was my 1st lens that allowed me to shoot birds. Your shutter speed is slow, I would suggest upping your ISO to 400 or higher, you'll then get your shutter speed up. A great start Ryan.
