    Saw in this in the garden - wrong time of the day 13h01 in full sun (though later on tried to get some shade)and hand held at this stage.
    Canon 40D. focal length: 85mm
    f/8 1/1250sec
    Metering mode: Partial
    exp com: + 1 stop ( trying for white of flower)
    PS work. Crop, curves, contrast, and selective burning. V. little sharpening.

    Hi Jeni,
    It would have been better if things were more in focus. Very interesting shot. I wonder if you should have added even more exposure comp. the flower still looks a little gray to me.
    Good attempt at a tough shot.

    Hi Jeni,
    I like what you were trying to do; however, the focal point is not on the mantis' eyes, the whole image is a bit on the soft side. You could have presented this as a horizontal instead of a vertical composition, thus cutting your main subject in half...:eek: Thats ok, your next one is going to be much better...:):cool:

    P.S. The lighting condition was not the greatest, you need to keep the sun at your back. If you like, you can clone some white texture from your flower to eliminate the shadows...:cool:

    I like your capture, agree with the comments from Gus regarding the focus. None the less a nice shot.
