D3 / 200-400 / bag won't fit?

To Nikon D3 and 200-400 owners:

I picked up a D3 and 200-400 recently only to find that the really nice bag that comes with the 200-400 does not allow me to put the lens with D3 mounted on it into the bag. Is it just me being too simple to see how the lens mounted on camera should fit in the bag? Or have you found this too?

My D2Hs+200-400 fits fine in the Nikon bag.
It's a very practical small bag !

Phil,

I can get the D300 + 200-400mm VR together in the bag. But I think the D3 is larger so perhaps that is the problem.

Phil,

Try reversing the camera, putting it on the bottom of the bag.

Depending on how much you need padding for the camera the top padding in the case can easily be removed, allowing for the lens and D3 to fit just fine. The bag itself still has enough padding to protect the camera from normal use.
