Love this capture Ramon. I tried when we were in the Pantanal to capture one of these but they are so fast and a definite challenge. The open beak and the great head turn puts this one over the top for me. Excellent detail and eye contact too. Congratulations on this awesome image.

    Hola Ramon,

What a lovely looking bird. Love the punk rock hair do. Very sharp and the open beak is a huge plus.

    Excellent work!

I like the careful crop with those dark feathers leading into the corner - well thought out. I only wish that we could see a bit inside the mouth, but this does not take away from this fantastic photograph!!

Daniel, thanks for your comment, but as you can see in this picture, the inside side of their bill os very dark, almost black, it is not easy to get details in there :D

Thanks ramon for showing me another example of the dark mouth cavity. At least in the second one you can see a bit of detail in there. I still like the first one though...way cool :-)

What a great looking bird for photography! Now I want to visit your country!! Comp, details, clarity, the bird's pose are all great, and its coloring is beautifuly offset by the complementary sky coloring. The not-quite-solid blue sky is neat too. Love the repost also, haha, what did you DO to make him so mad??
