I like the pose and the BG Rob! The look is priceless. I would tweak the eye in the shadows a bit. Overall really nice!

Like the pose and the BG, details are great and light seems nice, I would remove the noise under the right wing though. Congratulations!

Cool pose, eye contact and BG. I also like the dangling feet. Another vote for brightening the bird's right eye.

Nice image Rob, agree with all the previous. the pose, dangling feet and look is just great. The eye shadow is distracting unfortunately. Some curves and NR with a layer mask will help with the problems.

I find that these comments about the eye shadow are getting way too technical. This is how the light hit the bird and the shadow is there. I usually do some photoshop work but in most cases I prefer to do as little as possible. I think the shadow looks fine and I don't think additional work is needed.

It is all just a matter of tastes Rob... personal preferences nothing less and nothing more:), I would've worked on that eye but also as presented is great, still think that you should try to remove the noise in the wing. Have a nice day!

Wonderful flight pose Rob and I love the the incredible look in it's eyes. One of real determination. The dangling feet really makes this capture for me and to catch a burrowing owl in flight is a real challenge. Big Congrats !!!

Well, here's another vote for tweaking the eye!! ;-) It doesn't need to be as bright as the other one...just simply lightening up a bit so it isn't as deep in the shadows. In the end it is indeed your final say - but don't forget...this is a critique forum and the good folks here have all offered a good piece of constructive advice :-)

The dangling feet are very cool, and so is the way the primaries of the far wing are "crowning" the head of the owl - superb!

I like a lot the pose of the bird, the wing spreading and the dangling feet. Nice BG and terrific eye contact. This image is very fine in the way that you presented but my vote is to lighten the eye because that would improve the result. I think that it is like adding a touch of fill flash but using PS;)

I agree with this statement 100% We are talking about nature here. I think some people here should look into modeling and animation if they want perfection.

I like this shot "as is" this is nature :)

I love nature as much or more than anyone. That is why I took Master Naturalist courses.

As to perfection, that is my goal. Set your goals high. Am at nothing and you will surely hit it!

While the image stands on it's own merit. A small tweak to the eye would make this an even stronger image.
Based on the noise under the wing, it appears that you lightened that area.
If that is the case, why the underside of the wing and not the shadow in the eye area?

Ansel Adams and Clyde Butcher are famous for their beautiful prints.
Their prints are so beautiful in large part due to dodging and burning.

It is all a matter of taste.

Remember, photography is like a box of chocolate.
Everyone loves the chocolate however not everyone likes the same fillings.

Just because I don't like caramel centers, that does not make them bad.
It just means I don't like them. Others may love them.

Again, It's all a matter of taste. And sometimes it is good to be exposed to new flavors:).

Agree with James 100%. Whether you change the eye or not is totally up to you and your artistic vision...but the moderators would be remiss not to at least mention it.

The eye contact is outstanding as is the pose and the background. I also really like the blur on the wings which gives a great sense of movement.

    Keep up the good work,
