    Default Juvenile Marsh Wren

Taken this past summer. An area close to my home is usually teeming with Marsh Wrens during the summer months. I was glad when this young one came in to investigate a recording of its species. Wrens are VERY responsive to the tape call technique, which of course is done sparingly and discreetly as to not stress out the birds. There was water up to my knees, and the reeds were about 2 taller than me!

I like the position of the bird in the frame and you really need the reeds in the BG for a bird called the Marsh Wren. I always like to show wrens wings and tails as they are usually important for id but more often than not they hit you straight on as in this image. I might have cooled the temperature a bit on the colors and the shadow is a tad distracting.

Great pose, light and setting. It could go a bit brighter. The shadow right of the beak is a bit distracting.
