This is a composite image in 3 layers-each a separate image. Bird images- 1/1600, f6.3,-1/3, ISO 1000, FL 400. Taken at an area zoo. I still have a copy in layers so each element can be moved. Just got power back from Gustav!!
Thank you for any suggestions!!!
Thank you Jackie. The bird on the right is much closer to the camera than the bird on the left. Is there a way to make him look like he is closer? I wanted both birds in focus so I had to use two separate images.
Kathy
Hi Kathy,
I have never managed to get two birds in different planes in focus without compromising the BG so I'm afraid that I don't have an answer to your question. However I do like your picture a lot - the BG colour is stunning and the birds look like a crazy sculpture! Very well done.
Regards,
Nicki
PS Glad to hear that you got your power back - let's hope that you don't get hit again...
I like the way they are looking at each other it sort of complements the bg !! Strong and compelling !!!! The only thing I can think is to move them closer to make the image tighter !!! Really excellent !!!
way cool composition, kathy!!! love the bg you chose!! really compliments the bird and takes it over the top. glad you got your power back and good luck on ike. hope he takes a hike!!
Hi Kathy,
I think if you want to have the bird on the left look a little closer I might add some white to the bill on the left via selective colour, white, take away the black, but only by one or two points. You could also resize the bird on the left and make him a little larger, thru transform and make the box bigger. Just make sure it has the same pixel count as the photo you are putting him into. And maybe to make the bird on the right recede, tone down the white on the bill thru linear burn (did you read the post in one of the last BAA bulletins? it is a great tip and you can adjust the highs mids and lows) And finally maybe add a touch of black to the red on the bird on the right again thru selective colour only one or two points again.
This are things I thought maybe you could try. Great composite.
