    Default Green Heron

    St. Catharines Ontario, Canada
    D300 / 200-400 VR
    1/250s f/8.0 at 360.0mm iso200

    Tripod, natural light, slight crop.

A fun afternoon with this cool, and friendly bird, who gave me some good opportunities and forced me into the swamp to get a better angle (to be posted another time). It sure was fun to get out shooting again, and have some good luck!

take care., and have a good week!

PS. I just noticed I messed up.. I forgot to sharpen the first image, I guess I cannot change it, so I will post a second here... sorry.

Nice pose and the lily pad environment is especially nice. Good framing and nice light. I am lolking forward to seeing an image of this bird after you got into the swamp, but this slightly higher angle shows the lily pads to advantage.

    Hi Raymond,

Really like the classical green heron pose you captured in this image and the wonderful alert eye, The environment adds a great deal to this capture and it is well composed. Fine work Raymond !!!

I liek this shot because it shows very well how the bird walk thru the swamp, still I think I will like better a lower angle ;) as BG here is a bit bussy. Congratulatiopns!

Nice composition Ray. Although the head angle looks parallel enough I still wish for it to be slight more towards us. I also detect a colour cast (I understand the habitat may have deflected some colour onto the bird...but I still feel it should be corrected). Can't wait to see some of those "into the swamp" images!

Ray, I didn't mind your original composition...but I like the colour tweak on the heron in the repost.
