    Default Gull after a Fight

I took this photo of a gull that was gathering itself after a 15+ minute fight with another gull, much of which took place in the water, which is why he looks a bit wet.

C & C appreciated. I am trying to improve my technical skills. I would have liked a bit of a head turn towards me, but I don't think he spoke English...

The light doesn't look like it was with you for this one but I think the exposure is pretty good given the circumstances. When there's action you just have to be ready. He certainly looks frazzled. I think that the gull could use a little more USM. The BG and perch are fine. A larger size of the image would also help in seeing some of the detail.

    Hi,

    Chris,

This image suffer from several aspects and the first one is the light which is not ideal in this image. You did well with the composition and looks sharp. Remember is not about if the bird speaks English, Spanish or whatever other language, is about YOU waiting for the right moment to capture the head turn just in time!

    Keep them coming!

Nice pose and bg I would go with as more conventional crop and do away with the squarish comp.

I agree with all suggestions above. However this image, especially when viewed alonside the one you posted here, does tell a story!! :-)
