Default To Clone, or Not To Clone....

    Attached Images Attached Images

...that is the question I was asking myself while doodling with this in Photoshop.

I would prefer it if the divers in the background were a little darker, and / or a little farther into the picture.

As they are, they do seem to add some interest, IMO. But I thought about cloning them out.....

    What do you think?

    Thanks,
    Amy D.

Lets see. This is mine using the Quick Mask on the divers to darken
them a little. I did this in 10 seconds so don't expect anything perfect :)

    P.S.

Do you see posterization where the sun is coming thru? on the RAW, and TIF images, it looks ok, but I think when it went to jpg, it got posterized - it's not much, but I just noticed it. This is one of those areas where film still reigns! :)

Hey Doug - the site must be having problems. I don't see your repost - and I think some other threads were missing their photos as well....

...Edited: Oops - it showed up - must just be a busy day on the Internet pipe.

Now that I see them darker, I realize that the parts of the ship that are the same distance away would have to have the same value, wouldn't they - or the divers look out of place.... that starts a whole slippery slope....

Good job darkening them, though! Thanks!

Thats strange cause I can see it. I guess we'll have to wait and see if anybody else
    see's my image.

Also, I wanted to add that if you wanted to make those drivers a little larger, once you
separate them with the Quick Mask, you can use the Free Transform tool to make them
    a little larger.

Doug, you're reading my mind. If they're darker, then that means they must be closer (less water between), otherwise, they don't match the color of objects at the same distance on the ship.....

Hi Amy, Actually the only way to properly fix this photo is to go back and reshoot it again.... Field Trip! I would love to dive, then it means buying a housing. No one told me this hobby would would be endless as to the gadgets you can buy. I love the comp, great color on the sponge. The divers do draw me deeper into the pic.... Richard

Richard, you're absolutely right! A field trip is the only logical solution to this. Still, I think all my camera and dive gear added up, housing and strobe included, still doesn't total the price of the Nikon 500mm VR lens, and that kind of glass is what you really need for shooting our feathered friends well.... So rats, I might just have to keep diving. :)
