    This was taken last weekend on Sanibel Island and Captiva when Gustav was passing through the Gulf. The surfers were out by the hundreds and it was exciting to see the incredible activity both on land and in the water.

    Hi Judy Lynn,
    Wow!! This must have been a spectacular sight - I can hardly imagine seeing surfers at Sanibel - every time I have been to the Gulf coast the sea has been dead calm...
    Great image - stay safe.

    The gulf as you only see it during a hurricane. Just a day at the beach for us on the Atlantic side.

    Man, I mean Gal,
    We did not have seas that big in the Tampa Bay area.
    I wanted to put the Hooptie Deux through a hurricane sea trial!
