This was shot at a park by the Hillsborough RIver in Tampa. I did do some PS work to clone out a bot fly "warble" - a bump where the bot fly larvae infest themselves under the skin. (See Friends and Family forum where I posted another photo before I knew what this was - not for the faint of heart :( )

I like the light on this - though the top of his head might be a little hot, but there's no clipping...

Like the composition. Looks like a little back lit and using fill flash it would have been balanced. Some time little built in flash works fine.

Nice comp and good sharpness... I would try lifting the shadows a bit but otherwise I think Sid´s thought about the fill flash is good. A bit stressed background that might have bin better with a larger aperture...

Sid had a good suggestion on the built-in flash. Like the backlight especially on the tail. I might have taken the left crop right to the tree branch to have it entering the frame in the corner.

Thanks guys - this guy was actually quite close, and flash gave his eyes an eerie look - fixing red-eye doesn't seem to ever look quite right. (maybe I need the practice). :)

Here is the image with the cropping suggestion, and I did a quick mask to increase the blur in the BG... Lightened the shadows a little, too....

    Thanks for the suggestions!

    Hi Amy,
Repost looks good. I like the colors and light. Glad you removed the bot flies!

The repost looks much better Amy. I like the pose a lot with that curved tail. A pity about the backlighting and the busy BG though.

Amy, I think your repost is a significant improvement - in the first post, the brightness in the background distracted from the main subject quite a bit; you've managed to minimize the bg and bring out the squirrel much better on your repost.
