During 1 day I was fortunate enough to work with this beautiful golden eagle individual. As I was trying out some shots from a wider angle with a predator/prey perspective (using a dead rabbit which was picked up at a local butcher). This eagle did something completely unexpected, it started to defend its prey screaming out loud, which resulted in this shot! I have several shots with a headturn towards the camera but this seemed more intersting with him looking/screaming into the distance focussing some attention at the environment as well. Taken under controlled conditions.

    C & C welcome

How unusual, I really like it. Makes a very interesting image. Nice BG details to go with it.

Good job avoiding cutting any of the feathers along the bottom edge. The soft light and DOF are good also.

    Thanks for sharing.

This is a very interesting image. I realized how much I liked the image when I noticed I had been looking at it for a few minutes, taking in the different subjects and areas of interest. I love the action of the eagle and the background is perfect and gives it a national geographic feel.. to me, its a very professional shot.

I agree with the others comments, unique persepective. A well seen image Krijn. I reposted a version with the sky and BG hills made more dramatic using a curves adjustment to darken the image, mask out bird and FG with black. BG hills maaked at 25% gray and the the blending mode changed to darken. A minor tweak to be sure but with the eagle facing that direction it seems to balance it more.
