    Default Spotted Sandpiper

    This is one of those species you just can't approach...the strategy with them is to let them approach you (and by usually having them unaware of your presence). This is what happened here. I was busy with some Yellowlegs when this guy walked right by me.

    Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, aperture priority, 1/1600s., f/7.1, ISO 400, -1 EC, handheld

    I like the composition here with the strong diagonal of the rocks; the fact that they're mostly in focus helps IMO. Also love the green water, the open bill, and the eye contact. Nice one!

    The pose is great and I particularly like your careful framing and composition. Very attractive rocky perch and pretty green water. A lovely capture!

    Liked the composition & also the waves & ripples in the water. Nice details + open bill is an add-on.
