This was my first try using 7 high speed flashes. I can't wait for Linda's CD to come out to shorten my learning curve! This is great fun, but the season here in CO is almost over. It turned cold here today and the hummingbirds were gorging themselves... a sign that they may soon be heading south.

Nice job on this. Love the color and the detail and the bird does not look overly flashed.

Bill, I couldn't agree more....photographing hummingbirds with multiple high speed flash is so much fun!

You have a very nice image here. The pose is great and you have beautiful sharp detail in this lovely bird. Your lighting is good, but I think that your remote flash placement can be refined a bit. Before your hummies leave, try setting your camera at it's maximum sync speed of 1/250 and then choosing your aperture. I think that the bird is a little tight in the frame. My Hummingbird Guide will be ready in just over a week. Looking forward to seeing more of your hummingbird images!

Just love it, the wing position and 3/4 view are great!! I would try with a different BG (more colourfull) and probably less power in the flash you used to lighten his chest. Still, GREAT shot! Congratulations!

Bill, the lighting looks pretty good to me. I agree with Linda about the composition being a bit tight, and I also think the background could use some work -- looks a little too studio for my taste. It is fun, isn't it?!

    Cheers,
    Greg

A very good try indeed. Photographing these guys is not an easy task, but you did pretty well. I agree with Ramón about using a different BG, may be a green one could work here. Very nice details.

Love it. Definitely has a studio look to it but that is appealing to me as something different. The lighting and background make it feel that way. Kudos on the atypical result.
