    Osprey - Close up - S.W Florida

A good friend of mine once told me "I don't photograph Ospreys with no fish" which I totally agree. However, this one is an exception.... :D

Worked in the eyes a little in CS3 because that's the main area in this photograph.

Not everyday you get to photograph these wonderful birds up close!

    Comments are welcome!

Maxis, of all the Osprey's pictures I have seen, this is my favorite so far! I don't care if the bird has a fish or not, but his expression and sharpness makes this one for me. I only wish it were mine!!! Great job.

Maxis, the composition is great as is the exposure. I think this is a winner for sure.

    Hi Maxis,
Great capture of the focused eyes of a raptor. I also like the light and detail on those feathers. Action shots are great but well done portraits are pretty nice too.

I disagree with your friend...ospreys are beautiful with or without fish! Very nice portrait. I love the stare this bird gave you, the ruffled feathers, and the beautiful detail in the plumage. Well done.

I'm a big fan of portraits Maxis, and this one is excellent. Not sure what the original looked like, but the eyes look great as posted. Detail is superb. Nice work!

This is a lovely shot, Maxis. The portrait works well with that great eye contact. The lovely tones and textures would tempt me to crop out a bit of the wing as an abstract textural detail image - maybe for out of the box

    Great shot!

That low ISO really helps with the clean look, good work.

Wonderful picture of the osprey and ....look at the eyes...surprising. I would like which work you did in CSC3.
Again, as others i don`t mind if there is no fish.

    Hi Yves,

Thank you for your words. This is what I did in CS3

Eyes: Selected both eyes at the same time using quick mask (Robert O'toole have an excellent guide). Lighten them up at the same time and push the yellow.

Brown Feathers: Nothing more than regular saturation and contrast, using levels.

    Sharpening: Using Smart Sharpening.

Hope this helps! if you have any other question, please let me know!

    Thanks!
