During our recent trip to Giants Castle we were blessed with perfect conditions on the first morning. A fresh wind blew from early on and the light cloud cover resulted in consistent filtered sunlight, ideal for accentuating the feather detail on the adult Bearded Vulture that paid us a visit short visit.

Like the hint of environment in the BG Chris. Nice eye contact and sharpness. Thanks for posting!

spectacular image Chris, what a fantastic looking bird., the bg is awesome, i like the hunting pose, and eye level angle. the sharp wing tips bring this image way over the top. Fabulous.

Thanks guys! Awesome bird Raymond, indeed - hence the alternative name of Lammergeyer, meaning lamb vulture in German/Dutch/Afrikaans. Actually, the species is not a predator but a timid scavenger, specializing in swallowing large bones.

Very cool image. The light really helped with the details in the shadows and highlights. Great BG, too. I also like the eye contact and the fact that there is a bit separation between wing and tail.

I don't know if the bird or the photo is the most beautiful. Both probably. Thanks for this beautiness!

Another great shot Chris. Love the diagonal composition and the curves of the primaries. The light reflecting up under the wing gives nice shadow detail. Your images make us feel inadequate and anxious about offering advice but I am going to be brave and suggest cloning out the feather sticking up from the back as I find it pulls my eye away from the focal point of the eye:)

It doesn't get better than this. The bird is sharp , and the beautiful light brought out so much detail in the plumage. especially on the underside of the bird.
Excellent composition. A beautiful capture in every respect.

Excellent shot Chris as usual. The BG, pose, comp and especially headturn are beautiful! Nice one, I don't mind the feather on the back. Thanks for showing

Awesome. Nice to know that this birrd is also known as Lammergeyer. In India, Lammergeyer can be found in the higher reaches of the Himalayas.
