another from sunday afternoon at boynton inlet. i wished this were better. i dont think it's my post processing. i think it's equipment limitations. or technique. the histogram went right to the edge of the right side so i know the exposure was perfect. there's just not a lot of fine detail in there.
D300, Bigma at 420mm, 1/1600s, +0.7EV, ISO 500
a very slight crop off the right side and that's it. so it's almost full frame.
Dr. Daktari,
I like the composition. I checked the exposure, and the exposure seems to be good...were you playing with RGB, or sRGB color space? See if you like the modifications I did. Boosted contrast and hues just a tad cloned out the dark waves in the background, and cloned in more ripples from the foreground to your right bottom corner, and selective sharpened your bird....Note I use 23% selective sharpening; I think I over did it... but you can work on it...your home work...
You've got some pretty flat light there Harold. Tough to get lots of detail without using a little fill flash; flash will create a little shadow in the feathers that will give a sense of sharpness. I think you had a fair amount of room for more + EC also since nothing on the bird is close to blown. I'd like to see a bit more eye contact. I would remove the color in the RLC. Thanks for posting!
thanks doug. key info on the flash (that's happens to be in the shop because of a bonehead mistake on my part!!) you are right. totally overcast and as flat as light gets!!
Harold,
I have been admiring your posts, You will soon be out of this category.
I like what Gus has done. I think you are doing some great stuff. I really like it.
Here's my take. I selected the bird and boosted both brightness and contrast. Did a little work on the eye. Evened out the BG a little. What do you think?
