    Welcome to BPN, Steve! Nice composition and good head angle (HA). You have good detail in the feathers for the most part. My only suggestion would be to either move around to face the bird more head on or use fill flash as almost his entire breast area is in shadow. I'd also give his eye just a tad more selective sharpening to really bring it out.

    Hi Steve !!! Big Welcome to BPN

    Can add to check your sun angle, light is coming from your hard left and is rendering the right side in shadows. Flash could help but will be tough.
    According to your shutter speed (please list tech info if possible) they might be reduction in power output !!!

    You might be able to lighten the dark breast area and increase the density a tad on the left side, should make a difference !!! Looking forward to many more !!!

    Thanks to everyone for their welcomes and the comments on the picture - much appreciated.

    The shot was taken from a hide (blind) so I was unable to move to make sure the light was behind me - fill flash would have been the way to go.
