    Default alert dowitcher

This juvie short-billed dowitcher was in alert posture while a peregrine falcon was hunting overhead. The eye and head angle tell the whole story.

    1DM3, 500mm, 1.4X, f/9, 1/1200 sec. USM 125/0.2/0 applied to bird's body twice, slight tweak on contrast.

I like the soft light and the look up really tells the story. I wish for a lower angle and might sharpen the bird a bit more.

Cute pose and I like the added drops of water falling in this capture. I agree a lower angle would be nice and a touch of sharpening as Axel mentioned. Many thanks for sharing.

I think the story is what makes this image Keith. It's amazing how well birds sense predators! I agree with Axel's suggestions.

Lovely head turn and drops. I would remove the lighter spots in the BG.

Great job capturing the alert pose! Agree with Axels suggestions, and I might also remove the small dark area in the lower right corner.
