Although it's hardly noticeable at first glance, I did a good deal of minor post processing on this image. The lighting and exposure were pretty much there but the flower itself seemed rather one dimensional. The first thing I did was to open up the liquify filter and then I drew the stamen up to separate them from the flower head and give them a more dramatic height. After that, I gently bent the petals out and down, making the image have a wider/flatter feel. This actually changed the way the lighting appeared on the surface of the petals and that's where I came up with the name "Moonbath."
sweet image Jules! Nice job on the post because it doesn't look like it. There's a spot in the stem (center left) that looks imperfect -- probably the stem itself, but knowing you did some post, it makes me think that step could have been adjusted (very minor nit to pick). Lovely lighting, and the stamens and pistils look like a birthday cake!
I guess we should be careful - Adobe will start selling Liquify as a separate plug-in for extra! (should I even put that idea out there???)
This is very beautiful - and I would never have known about the post processing - the petals look actually sleek - like little hoods of high-end sports cars! I'd love to see the original.
