    Oriental Poppy ready to fully bloom.

    Nikon D80, Nikon 105mm macro, f/8, 1/20 sec, tripod, greyscale conversion in LR with contrast, tone curves, crop, and vignette.

    Bruce, the black & white conversion really works here. It really dramatizes the poppy's paper-like petals. You might try smoothing out the BG in the URC - maybe do a clone at 50% over the area that is a little bit lighter/streaked. That should blend it right in with the rest of the BG nicely.

    Really wonderful use of texture. I'd love to see another image when it spreads its wings!

    I too love this image and thinks it works great in B&W. A tad more contrast I think would work here.

    It does have a crumpled paper look to it. Well done on capturing that aspect, and the tones as well.
