    taken in the backyard with sony a700, sigma 100-300 f4 at 300 and f4,1/160s,+1 exposure,iso 200.

    I like the bird and pose, did well with the exposure. Would suggest a little more room at the bottom . Light bg like this one make it tough to focus on the bird, might want to catch him in a different location. You did have the focus point on the eye area since its the sharpest part, obtaining more dof would be nice but the bg would come into play, tough choice.

    For this situations I like a some soft fill flash. btw did you use a tripod here? .... even at 300 with the crop factor you got a lot of magnification for the slow shutter speed.
