    Default Grey Heron

    Hi

Another of my recent Grey Heron photos. This bird flying over the local beach. The sand being shaped by the ferocious tides that we get on the estuary here. For example todays high tide is at around 32 ft, a difference from low water of around 30ft which is a lot of water!!

Taken with 1Dmk3 and 500mm lens at F7.1, ISO 400 and 1/2000s with evaluative metering.

    Cheers

This is rather nice! The bird pops nicely from the BG, and the shadow is a pretty cool bonus.

great heron shot. I like the wing pose. The shadow below the bird is wonderful.

    Hi Rich,
I really like the shadow.......when you scroll the image and crop a bit off the bottom.......near the wet spot just above your signature.......seems to strenghten the comp a bit for my tastes.

Very, very nice Rich. I agree with a slight crop off the bottom. I might also clone out the black curving line at the top of the image, but this image is great as presented IMO!!!

Nicely done Rich! I think the shadow adds a lot to this image. I agree with Roman's idea about the crop. Thanks for posting!

    Hi Rich,

This is so different from typical GBH images, I love it. Very effective composition, shadow is cool. Very well done.
