Gitzo Levelling Base GS5121

I just received the GS5121 which I need to mount on my Gitzo 5540LS. In absence of any instructions with the levelling base, I presume I need to remove the flat plate on my 5540LS before I can mount the levelling base. Would appreciate if someone can confirm this?

Correct, remove the flat plate and insert the levelling base in the opening and tighten the bolt
