Is this a butterfly of some sort, or a moth? I found it this morning when the birds were too skittish...still lusting after bigger glass. :) Anyway, the original conversion wasn't very interesting so I converted adding a whole stop, and then played around in photoshop and came up with this version which I like. I guess I'm on a high-key-look kick. C&C always appreciated. Thanks for looking.

    Lady Katie,
I like it very much. It has that soft pastel feel. I like Mr. Davis' rotation. I would desaturate the butterfly just a tad; not too much. Just enough to blend in with the habitat, and at the same time to make its presence known. I like the composition and the feel, it has an oriental flair...;)

Great treatment. Love the soft pastel colours of the background and the serene feel of the pic in general.
Great depth of field in capturing the moth. Love the pic.

Hey, thanks guys for the comments and suggestions and Harold I like the rotation, I was having trouble with the composition...and I agree, it does have an eastern feel.

First thing that came to my mind was the angle of perspective of the original. I like Harold's repost, too. I think others have covered pretty much everything. So, allow me to simply say: overall, I think it's a good-looking image !!

It is definitely a butterfly. I used to get confused but then I learned that the antennae is what determines which is which. On butterflies they are exactly as presented - long and slender with a "bulb" on the end. With moths, they tend to be hairy from one end to the other.

Lovely feel to this Katie. I do like the rotated version better but that's a minor change. It's lovely as presented. I would agree that desaturating the bf just a bit might make it fit in with the overall tone of the image a bit more but it is such a beautiful punch of color that I could go either way.
