    it rained yesterday so i went into my backyard to see if anything was there to shoot. i shot these 2 toad stools just to let you know its just fun-Gus.:)

    Hi Mike,
    Take a look and see if you like this version better. I cropped from all the sides, placing your subjects in line with the rule of thirds, blured the background to make it more uniform, dodged and burned the mushrooms and stems to bring the colors out and sprinkled selective sharpening on the tops...:cool:

    Good subject Mike !!! I like what Gus did very much, sure made a big change. For these same principle applies as for birds. Do try to compose with the subject off center from the start. Btw you can also do extreme close ups for great results !!!

    yours does look better and i will try to use your techniques in my future pictures. the darkening of the background to show almost like pure black really is a big difference. i will try to remember the rule of thirds.
