    Hi,

Captured while demonstrating how to achieve sharp images with stacked teleconverters. I was on Bonaventure when this baby hatched in June, so it was fun to see how healthy it is. On very hot days many of the babies look quite dead - it's worth sticking around until the end of the afternoon, when they all start to get up and stretch.

    Be Brutal!

    Chris

PS... I have now made the hike up to the colony and back 149 times - still have a hard time leaving . . . and can't wait to get back :)

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for sharing this one I have never seen a young NG, I love it.
Great sharpness in the bill and eye although other areas of the face look slightly over sharpened on my computer. Also the down feathers look a little hot also.

    Congrats..

The whites look OK to me, but I do see it oversharpened, other than that, this is a killer portrait! I love it and I envy you, I wish I can go there some time! Congratulations!

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for your comments. I'm going to have to take another look at this one; only two passes of USM @ 125 / 0.3 / 0. As for the whites, no clipping at this end, but I will have another look. Thanks.

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Its just a minor point but technically the whites cant get much whiter! :D

I get values in the 250 range.

Whites look fine and if it is over-sharpened, it is only a fraction... Two passes at the .3 might be a bit much. IAC, this is a wonderful image with fabulous stacked TC technique. Love those very few with the black adn white face masks. And getting a clean image of the young is not easy. Way to go Monsieur.

Very good picture. It is superb on my monitor. I need to attend your seminar and learn the technique. I never got good results when stacking.

Wonderful portrait Chris. I've never seen a NG chick this young, and the detail is simply wonderful. A perfect pose as well. As for the whites question, it looks fine to me on my monitor, but when I put it in PS it shows some of the whites over.
