This image of a Black crowned night heron was made over the weekend at a local marsh. It was perched on that small branch and allowed me to get very close and to capture several different poses. The golden evening light made this a wonderful evening for bird photography.

Nice pose on this guy. I like the open mouth and wide open eye. Wish for a better head angle. I would tone down the front leg, and probably eliminate the small ball in LRC.
I like the pose, he's ready to strike which adds a nice feeling of tension. THe front leg and the bird's belly appear close to hot, and I don't care for the oof branch intersecting the image from the left side.
