Hello all, just joined the forum after looking at the member list and all the great photos. Wish I would have seen this a while ago. Better late than never. Anyway, this image is becoming my iconic image. Captured it last Feb in Utah. It won the PSA Nature Photo of the Year. Basically, I couldn't ask for much more. Nearly full frame. Canon 1DIII, 500F4, 1.4x

This is a wonderful image and as Doug said, worthy of this and any other honour bestowed. What a thrill to see the image on the LCD or come up on the computer screen for the first time! The balance, composition, exposure, sharpness, behaviour, indeed everything seems perfect. It would be useful to see the technical details of the capture.

Rob - you really should use only your BEST photo in the intro post. Hopefully you can improve from these humble beginnings.

Seriously, though, this is absolutely fantastic. You made the judges' job easy for that competition.
    Welcome!

Welcome to BPN Rob...you start here with quite a big bang!! The two visible eyes and the foot-on-bird action is what makes it for me. Congrats on the award :-)

Rob, it's great to see you here too. This image is indeed special. The moment you captured is so intense and the fact that both heads are visible is critical. Extremely well done!

Good to see you hear. Obviously an amazing capture. The best part for me is that the eye of the bird getting its butt kicked is visible, that plus two very good head angles and perfect sharpness and EXP.

Wonderful stuff. Love everything about this capture .... Just Brilliant ! I really do like the eye of the Eagle below is also in sharp focus, perhaps thats what is unique to me in this shot. The exposure is right on as well :-)

    Best Regards
