    Hola!

I would really like your opinion about this image. For starters I am not sure about the beak, it looks stained or dirty, and well, that white branch in the BG...Not in the best place.

What can I do to improve this image? Suggestions?

    Saludos,

    Diana

I like the image. I think the branch could be removed fairly easily, as well as the white line below the neck. I can't tell on my monitor if the white on the top of the head is too hot. I would also like to see more sharpening, especially on the face and both sharpening and contrast on the eye. I like the detail of the backlighting in the small feathers on its 'chin' and bottom of the beak.

    Hi Diana !!!

Excellent capture !!! Would just make a couple of changes The bg stick has to go It does grab attention. The eye I would work a bit to make it more prominent !!! Also sharpened a bit Do like the crop and captured action. Big plus having the catfish toward the camera !!! ...... glad you see you posting !!! and .... I think i know that bird :)

Oh It is the same bird!!! And the same fish!!! :)

Alfred, It is great we made the same image of this bird, because it helps me to see the diferences in the image process. I can see the colors in your image less saturated...this time I used LAB to process the colors...and it shows, maybe half of it would have been ok, donīt you think?

Ok, and it seems everytime I post an image it needs sharpening. Any tips in how to help me determine how much sharpening an image needs? and which are the best tools to sharpen an image? Or should I post this in the Digital Photography Workflow forum?

Thanks, it looks much better without the stick.

    Saludos,

    Diana

Thanks Cheryl! It really helps to hear other things about an image that you have not "seen" before, but once someone points them out, they really help to make your image better. It is why this forum is so great!

    Thanks again for your time.

Hi Diana Sharpening is done to taste but will give you a basic setting for Smart sharpening Use the radius to .3 and for amount start from 90 to 100 can go more if needed. Also look at the image at 100%

Not sure what are you doing in LAB Color? I did not do any color changes to your image just removed the stick, worked on they eye and sharpened.

btw for the sharpening just post images here an will get enough feedback to judge your work.

    Hi Al!

I meanīt "your" image, the one you have below your signature! I can see it is very similar to mine: the bird and the fish, but worked differently.

Thanks for the advice on the sharpening...I usually use the same settings you are telling me, but my images tend to look a little bit soft. But I will keep posting in order to hear all you can say until I get it right!:)

    Saludos,

    Diana
